HYDERABAD, April 19: The Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company Gari Khata division has urged 80,000 consumers to use low voltage electric tube lights in their lanes and streets from their own meters.

Speaking to representatives of various trade organizations and members of the Hesco advisory committee in the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday, the divisional chief engineer of the company said that this would not only save line- losses but also help eliminate the issuance of detection bills.

The official said all out efforts would be made to redress the grievances of consumers relating to shutdowns and breakdowns of electricity. He called upon the business community to cooperate with Hesco in discouraging illegal connections and power theft.

Members of the Hesco advisory committee, Akram Arain and Saleemuddin, said that the business community was greatly perturbed over the issuance of detection bills and said that proper procedure should be followed in this regard.

They said that representative of the trade organizations of commercial centres should be taken into confidence before issuing detection bills. They held out an assurance that the business community would extend all cooperation to Hesco in reducing the line losses.

PARAMEDICS: Sindh Health Minister Naeem Ishtiaque has assured the paramedical staff that he is taking necessary steps to redress their genuine grievances. He was talking to office-bearers of the Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association in the circuit house on Sunday.

The minister said that the paramedical staff was the backbone of medical profession and their role in ameliorating the sufferings of ailing humanity could not be overlooked. He said the performance of the health department was dependent on the performance of the paramedical staff.
