Godara stars in team's victory

LAHORE, April 11: Three goals by Indian Dhruvpal Godara guided Prime Travels to lift the Suzuki Township Motors polo cup beating an strong Sherwood in the final 6-3 at LPC ground on Sunday.

The match started on a fast note with the two teams remaining locked one-all in the first chukker. Shahzad Aziz slammed in a field goal to put Sherwood 1-0 ahead. But Godara soon levelled the score, converting a 60 yards penalty hit.

Prime dominated the second chukker 3-1 when Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana and Ali Malik contributed one each in quick succession. Both goals were scored through field attempts.

Prime remained in front 4-2 in the third chukker as both sides hit one each. Godara converted a 40 yards penalty hit to score his second for Prime, but Azhar Ali fired a field goal for Sherwood to reduce the margin.

The winners added two more against one they conceded in the fourth chukker to complete the tally. Maula Baksh, first struck for the losers, crowning a field effort, but Ahmad scored his second and Godara his third to seal the fate of the match. Earlier, Nee Punhal earned third place beating Guard Rice 7 1/2-4 in a subsidiary final.
