LAHORE, April 6: Wapda chairman Tariq Hameed said on Tuesday the government would announce relief in tariff after submission of report by the KESC.

Talking to newsmen, he said the finance ministry was awaiting the KESC's report to ensure uniformity in the relief package pledged by the prime minister recently.

He said Wapda, being a commercial entity, intended to provide additional relief and incentives to attract more industrial and commercial consumers. He also said the federal government would decide about the construction of a new dam at a suitable site. The feasibility of the Bhasha Dam would be prepared by June 30 next after which the government would take a decision about the construction of a new dam.

About the use of substandard material in the Ghazi Barotha Dam, he said such material was actually used in precious steel powder and not in cement. An inquiry committee had taken into custody the entire stock of 300 tons, he said, adding the decision would be taken after the report. -APP
