ABBOTTABAD, April 6: Four women were killed and four others injured after two assailants opened fire at them in the Kharaki village in Havelian on Tuesday.

The dead included the wife of the main accused, police and witnesses said. The motive behind the killing was stated to be a petty domestic dispute.

The main accused, Younis Khan, who was later arrested, and his unidentified accomplice opened indiscriminate firing at the women of his rival group, killing three of them, while his wife also received a bullet and died. The victims, whose names could not be ascertained, were identified as the wife and a daughter of Khanweez, the wife of Khan Afsar and the wife of Younis Khan.

The injured women were identified as the daughter of Khanweez, the wife of Changez, the wife of Gohar Rehman and the daughter of Khan Afsar. The police later in a raid conducted at a hideout arrested Younis Khan. He was also wanted to the police in a number of criminal cases, the police said.
