HYDERABAD, April 4: The district coordination officer has declined to provide jobs in the education department to 22 employees of the Sindhi Adabi Board who have been relieved by the board.
The board of governors of the Sindhi Adabi Board, at a meeting presided over by Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat, had decided to transfer 35 employees to the education department to ease financial pressure on the board.
Following the issuance of the notification, 35 board employees were relieved and 13 of them were adjusted in the education department by the EDOs of different districts.
However, sources said that the Hyderabad EDO sent a summary to the DCO who refused to adjust 22 employees. Requesting anonymity, a senior official of the board told this correspondent on Sunday that the employees had not received salaries since they were relieved in February and they were threatening to stage a protest sit-in outside the Hyderabad Press Club.
The education EDO and the DCO could not be contacted as they were said to be busy in making arrangements for the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai which begins from Monday (today).
RESOURCE CENTRE: The community development EDO has announced that a women resource centre will be established here to encourage women artisans. Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi was speaking at Women's Fair organised by the health department in collaboration with the community development department at Dialdas Club here Saturday.
He said that the district government had moved the management of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority for establishment of the resource centre. He said the district government had offered to provide a piece of land, equipment and organization and response from the other side was awaited.
The EDO said that his department was engaged in multipurpose activities aimed at welfare of women and Rs300,000 had been provided to upgrade Socio-Economic Centre for women in the city. Besides, he added, Women Development Fund had also been established.
Health EDO Agha Tariq said that the programme was organized to create awareness among women about the importance of vaccination for the immunization of mother and child.
More than 50 stalls were established in the Women's Fair. The stall established by Women Development Committee, Hyderabad District Council, secured first position, that of Socio Economic Centre stood second and that of the Rehabilitation Centre for Physical Handicapped secured third position.
