KARACHI, March 31: Various houses in Behar Colony in Union Council No 7 are being supplied contaminated water for the last one week and residents of the affected areas apprehend that serious abdominal ailments might breakout in their locality.

According to area Naib Nazim, a number of houses on B, I and T roads have been receiving contaminated water for the last week, and their complaints have gone unheeded. He

regretted that although the area Nazim was perturbed over protest demonstrations taking place in front of his office almost daily, and had brought the issue to the notice of the KWSB officials concerned on several occasions, but no measures have, so far, been taken to rectify the fault.

SHORTAGE: Several parts of Lyari's Rexer Lane, Allama Iqbal Colony (Union Council No 11) and Kachchi Mohalla (UC-9), have been experiencing water shortage for the last 10 days.

Residents of the affected localities complained that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials have not yet been able to rectify the fault responsible for water shortage while they have left three pits open which they had dug up in Lane No 3 to find out the cause of water shortage.

Complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from other parts of the city which includes Orangi's Sector 11 1/2, Baloch Colony, Benazir Colony; several sectors of Baldia, North Karachi's Sector 11-C-/1 (Sir Syed Town), Buffer Zone's Sector 15-A/5, Saudia Colony's sectors 8-A, 8-B and 9, Khokhrapar No 2 1/2 and Clifton's Block 2.
