KARACHI, March 30: Like other buses on various routes of the city, the Urban Transport System's CNG buses, known as "Green Buses" have started violating routes, specially those terminating at Gulshan-i-Hadeed.

Commuters told APP that the route No 16 of UTS buses that has an assigned route from Tower to Gulshan-i-Hadeed is terminating at Bhains Colony on National Highway.

This bus, carrying sign board "Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Tower via I.I.Chundrigar road" was formally launched in the first week of this March to fulfil the longstanding demand of the residents of Gulshan-i-Hadeed and Bin Qasim.

The residents were happy over the launching of the route, but on the very next day these buses cut short their route in the middle at National Highway after crossing Quaidabad (Landhi) instead of reaching Gulshan-i-Hadeed from Tower.

Muslim, Mehran and Burrak coaches have confined their operations at National Highway opposite Gulshan-i-Hadeed after the death of a boy in an accident which occurred owing to negligence by the drivers.

In similar accident only a few weeks back, a coach in the colony crushed a man. Some three months back, a Karachi University girl student was also hit by a coach while she was standing at a bus stop.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, the PS chairman has allowed four steel mills buses to run between the township and Quaidabad. However, this makes a very insignificant contribution where thousands of commuters travel to the city every day. The residents have appealed to the PS chairman to intervene and help solve the problems of the people. -APP
