QUETTA, March 26: The Balochistan government has decided to take effective measures to protect Wapda, Railways, PTCL and gas installations in the province, and says it hopes to find a political solution to law and order problems.

Presiding over a meeting held here on Friday, Chief Minister, Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf reviewed the law and order situation in view of exploding Wapda's high-powered transmission lines towers.

The government took serious notice of the increasing subversive activities in the province. The meeting decided to improve the intelligence for keeping vigilance on the activities of miscreants and anti-social elements who were involved in attacking national installations in the province.

"An affective coordination is needed between law-enforcement and intelligence agencies," the meeting observed and decided to increase patrolling on highways.

It was also observed that district governments were not fulfilling their responsibilities in connection with maintaining law and order protecting the national installations in their respective areas.

The chief minister also expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the authorities concerned and directed the district governments and nazims to effectively control law and order.

He further ordered that district Nazims should hold weekly meetings with district administration, police, levies and officials of the law-enforcement agencies.

The meeting decided that political solution would be find out for law and order situation and in this connection help of tribal elders and the people would be sought. The district Nazims would take the people and tribal leaders into confidence for seeking their help in finding out a political solution.

Speaking at the meeting the Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf said: "Law-enforcement agencies should not spare any law breaking person without considering his status and influence," adding that police, levies and other law-enforcement agencies should not compromise on the life and property of the people. " No body is above the law. Out laws should be dealt with iron hand," he said.

The Chief Secretary Major Mohammad Ashraf Nasar briefed the meeting about the over all situation in the province. The Director-General Levies informed the chief minister about the progress regarding operation against outlaws who kidnapped 15 bus passengers.
