KARACHI, March 25: Around 45 foreigners, studying at University of Karachi and lodged at its Federal Boys Hostel are living in a miserable condition as they have to use timber and coal to prepare their meals and pay handsome amounts to sweepers for cleaning their rooms.

Despite payment of Rs40,000 to Rs45,000 per semester fee and Rs600 monthly rent for living at the hostel, they even have to purchase tube-lights and bulbs for their rooms themselves.

Giving details of the pathetic living arrangements made by the university administration for them, a Sudanese student said that washrooms are in a shambles and owing to inadequate pressure of natural gas in the kitchen, some of students prepare their meals by using timber and coal.

"Doors and windowpanes of our rooms are broken or in a poor shape". They urged the VC, Dr. Pirzada Qasim, to take notice of the miserable conditions at the hospital. -PPI
