LAHORE, March 23: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Tuesday the government was striving for achieving the real objectives of the creation of Pakistan. Talking to district Nazim Mian Amir here, the chief minister claimed there was a greater harmony and solidarity between different provinces now and practical efforts were being made for resolving national issues.

He said the construction of the Lahore ring road costing Rs14 billion would soon be started. The ring road would not only help streamline traffic, but also result in promotion of trade activities in other cities. It would greatly help in expanding the industrial network, he said.

The chief minister said equal development opportunities were being provided to all backward areas, and the process of uplift had accelerated as a result of an effective interaction between provincial and district governments.

He said the district governments were playing an effective role in a solution to people's problems at local level. He said keeping in view the significance of district governments, more funds had been provided to them in the current fiscal. Mian Amir apprised the chief minister of the pace of implementation of various development schemes in the city. -APP
