GUJRANWALA, March 22: Romanian ambassador Emal Geto Lesco eulogized the made-in-Gujranwala products and offered local industrialists to export these quality products to his country.

The ambassador made this offer while speaking to industrialists and members of the local chamber of commerce and industry during his visit to the industrial exhibition at Gulshan-i-Iqbal park here on Monday.

He suggested that Pakistani industrialists should utilize modern technology in manufacturing the products to compete in the international market. Accompanied by his wife, the ambassador went to various stalls and evinced keen interests in the quality products displayed there.

Earlier, Railways IGP Chaudhry Ahmad Nasim also visited industrial exhibition and appreciated the manufacturers and industrialists for producing quality articles.

WARNED: The City Tehsil Council will blacklist the building contractors involved in using defective material in the construction of uplift projects. This was stated by City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmed while speaking at a meeting held here on Monday.

The meeting reviewed the construction work of various uplift projects and complaints regarding the use of defective material by contractors and issued notices to them. It also decided that the earnest money of contractors would be forfeited if they failed to complete the work in accordance with the specification within the stipulated period.

The Nazim pointed out that all ongoing uplift projects in the city would be got completed by the end of June this year. He asked the Nazims and Naib Nazims of union councils to provide their development schemes immediately.

BY-POLLS: Around 11 aspirants for by-polls, including eight women, were elected unopposed in Kamoki tehsil when their rival aspirants withdrew their nominations papers on Monday.

Those elected unopposed include, woman general councillor Tahira Bibi in union council-141, Safia Bibi in UC-142, Tasnim Bibi in UC-151 (Sadhoki), Nasira Tabassum in UC-156, Shamim Riaz in UC-157, Inayat Bibi in UC-158, and woman labour councillor Maqsood Bibi in UC-114, general councillor Maqbool Ahmed in UC-141 and minority councillor Hakim Masih in UC-160.
