MINGORA, March 22: College teachers have expressed concern over the government policy on promotions and termed it discriminatory, according to a statement issued here on Sunday by the vice president of Sarhad College Teachers Association, Prof Siraj Ahmad Yousufzai.

He said that the process of promotion of college teachers was much slower, as compared to the university or school teachers. He said that a university teacher was promoted to Grade 19 in 10 to 15 years of service, while the case of subject specialist teachers in higher secondary schools was also the same.

He said that the move-over college teachers from Grade 17 onward took almost 19 years. Prof Siraj said that a delegation of the college teachers had met with Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, who had issued directives for the solution to problems under the four-tier formula but the issue was yet to be settled.
