PESHAWAR, March 11: The mother of a lawyer who was allegedly picked up by Punjab police on Feb 21 has asked the government to help recover him.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the mother of Nadir Khan advocate said her son was picked up by a joint team of Punjab police and other law-enforcement agencies on Feb 21 in the jurisdiction of the cantonment police station.

The family of Nadir Khan, believed to be an activist of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, is clueless about his whereabouts. She said the police was unable to the tell the family of Mr Khan about his crime 20 days after his arrest.

She said if her son was involved in a crime, he should be tried. She alleged that the Punjab police was kidnapping people in the NWFP. The warned that people would retaliate if the Punjab police didn't stop its unlawful activities in the NWFP.

She said Nadir Khan was the sole breadwinner of his family. She asked NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani to help recover her son.
