COLOMBO, March 3: Leg-spinner Shane Warne took his first wicket for Australia in 12 months on the second day of the tourist's three-day match against a Sri Lanka President's XI on Wednesday.

Australia declared on their overnight score of 484 for six and then bowled out their hosts for 166 in 36.2 overs. Australia then piled up more runs in their second innings to finish the day on 250 for four.

Warne, making his return to the national side after a ban for taking a diuretic drug, took the last wicket to fall, having number eleven Ruchira Perera stumped.

Warne, Australia's leading wicket taker, finished with figures of one for 21 from 5.2 overs. Andrew Symonds enhanced his chances of a Test debut next week with 119 not out in the second innings while Justin Langer found some form with 63.

The game is Australia's final warm-up before the first of three Tests against Sri Lanka starting on March 8 in Galle.
