BAHAWALPUR, March 3: The implementation committee, constituted for the distribution of the property of late Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi (the fifth), has sought three months for the completion of the whole exercise.

It is learnt on Wednesday that the committee chairman, Justice Qadeeruddin Ahmad (retired), has put forward this demand before Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who had earlier directed the committee to complete the task by Feb 26 last.

Earlier, the implementation committee had further constituted a sub-committee, headed by EDO (revenue) Abdul Ghafoor Bhatti, to take steps in this regard. The committee found most of the valuables missing after desealing the palace and prepared inventories of the leftover articles.

The legal heirs and descendants of the late Nawab, who earlier wanted that the valuables should be auctioned among only the members of the family, were now interested in public involvement so that the leftover valuables could fetch higher prices. The matter has been referred by the local sub-committee to the implementation committee chairman, whose decision is awaited.

IMPRISONMENT: The Anti-Terrorism Court presiding officer, Syed Afzaal Sharif Kazmi, handed down on Wednesday seven-year rigorous imprisonment to a convict.
