HYDERABAD, March 1: Strict security arrangements have been made in the city and other parts of the district by the administration for Tuesday's Ashura processions.

Following an attack on an Imambargah in Rawalpindi, security arrangements have been reviewed by police authorities. Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mohammad Malkani and DPO A. D. Khawaja visited different parts of the city on Sunday night.

The Station Road will remain the focus of attention for police and civil administration officials as this is the main route of processions. Close-circuit cameras have been installed at Qadam Gah Maula Ali and Karbala Dadan Shah to monitor the movement of processions at a control room set up at the office of the City taluka police officer.

District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed and the DPO will remain present at the control room. All links of the Station Road will remain closed for general public and traffic from morning to evening till the last Tazia procession is passed on Tuesday.

Barbed wires will be put in place to close streets and other links. All processions that will emanate from Qadam Gah Maula Ali will enter Karbala Dadan Shah. A reserve police force from the Police Training College has also been called.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced that it will set up medical camps to provide treatment to injured Azadars. Matami processions will cross the entire route between 3pm to 4pm which will be followed by Tazia processions from the Tilak Incline.

Similar arrangements have been made in Latifabad, Qaimabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Hala and other areas.

MIRPURKHAS: Security has been beefed up in the district as police patrolling has been intensified and a large number of the police has been deployed on main roads, roundabouts, entry and exist routes of the city, imambargahs, mosques and sensitive places. Law-enforcement agencies held a joint flag march on Sunday.
