HYDERABAD, May 18: The Peoples Labour Bureau (PLB) has extended support to the bangle industry workers and warned that if the problems of the workers were not resolved, a series of protest demonstrations will be held against the manufacturers.
In a joint statement issued here on Saturday, PLB divisional president Lal Buksh Kalhoro and deputy general secretary Saghir Ahmed Rajput said the workers, associated with the bangle industry, were being victimized by the manufactures.
They said the workers were being sacked without any reason, they were not given appointment letters and they were not issued social security cards.
They alleged that the workers were not given compensation if they died during the performance of their duties and they were forced to work overtime without additional payment.
They accused the manufacturers of shutting down their plants without taking permission from the labour court as required under the Industrial Relations Ordinance of 1969.
They demanded of the Sindh labour department to take notice of these excesses and resolve the problems of the bangle industry workers.
