KARACHI, Feb 29: The Aurat Foundation's Karachi chapter, in a meeting on Sunday decided to hold camps at the City and Malir courts' premises to guide the women candidates for local government byelections, scheduled for March 28.

Sources in the NGO, mentioning that since the last date for submission of application forms in the LG polls had been announced to be March 4, said the foundation would set up the camps on March 3 and 4.

According to them, the initiative was aimed at providing guidance and assistance to the women intending to contest the polls, and the foundation workers would be present at the two camps to help women candidates facing problems in filling their forms or requiring relevant information.

The foundation had also planned to hold training workshops to mitigate any confusion among the women with regard to their participation in the union council by elections, the sources added. Some 4,000 seats had been reserved for women in union councils across the country, which are being filled through polls. -APP
