KARACHI, May 18: Federal minister for information and media development, Nisar Memon, has said that Pakistan is fully prepared to thwart aggressive designs of the enemy.

He was talking to a delegation of the Ulema and Mashaikh at the state guest house here on Saturday.

The minister referred to the firing and shelling by the Indian army along the working boundary and the Line of Control and said that the enemy was resorting to provocation but Pakistan had been facing the situation with patience.

Nisar Memon said he would not like to say anything about our country’s military strategy but added that whenever there had been any aggression against Pakistan every person vowed to defend every inch of the motherland.

Referring to the persecution and genocide of the Muslims in India, particularly in the state of Gujrat, he said that killings of Muslims anywhere could not be tolerated.

He said that anything can happen any time and stated that India had asked Pakistan’s high commissioner there to leave their country.

He asked the Ulema, political parties and the people that in the prevailing circumstances they should forge complete unity in their ranks and extend full support to the government as well as the armed forces of the country.

He warned that those sowing seeds of hatred in the name of religion would be dealt with an iron hand and action would be taken against them in accordance with the law. He also asked the people to come forward and help identify such elements.

Speaking on the occasion, Haji Mohammad Hanif Tayyab, chairman of the Ulema Mashaikh Council, announced full support for the government as well as for the armed forces.”For the security of the country we are all one,” he said.

Alhaj Mohammad Yaqub Qadri, Alhaj Mohammad Rafi, Sahibzada Syed Sohail Hashmi and Allama Ibrar Ahmed Rehmani also spoke on the occasion, pledging full support to the government.—APP
