July-Jan collection up by 15pc

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: The revenue collection registered a growth of 14.9 per cent to Rs274.174 billion during the July-January period of the current financial year, as against Rs238.637 billion during the same period last year.

Official figures released by the Central Board of Revenue here on Thursday showed the revenue registered a growth of 5.89 per cent over the target of Rs258.9 billion set for the same period.

Tax-wise break-up showed the tax authorities collected Rs120.432 billion under the head of sales tax during the July-Jan period of the current financial year against Rs108.862 billion during the same period of last year, showing an increase of 10.6 per cent.

Under the head of customs duty, the CBR collected Rs48.488 billion during the period under review against Rs33.654 billion over the same period last year, showing an increase of 44.1 per cent.

The tax authorities collected Rs82.196 billion income tax during seven months of the current financial year against Rs72.554 billion over the same period last year, showing an increase of 13.3 per cent.
