HYDERABAD: Sedition case stirs protest

HYDERABAD, Feb 25: Awami Tehrik activists held a protest demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Tuesday against the registration of a sedition case against party chief Rasool Bux Palijo and other leaders of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement in Islamabad.

Talking to journalists, AT leader Abrar Qazi said if opposing the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal and demanding provincial autonomy and other democratic rights was sedition and treason, then the government was welcome to register as many cases as it liked.

He said the peaceful struggle by the PONM for democratic rights of the smaller nations would continue. Mr Qazi demanded that the provinces should be given autonomy.
