KARACHI, Feb 25: The Gadap police, on Wednesday, obtained physical custody of five of their colleagues, including the SHO, in the case pertaining to negligence from official duties.

The five policemen, who were also booked in the murder case of two minor sisters, were produced in the court of a judicial magistrate in the case (FIR No. 28/2004) registered under Section 155-C of the Police Order 2002, without handcuffs.

The police did not seek their colleagues' remand in the murder case, though the grandfather of the victim girls pointed out to the court that the cops were initially booked in the murder case (FIR No 26/2004).

While giving SHO Muneer Ahmed Phulpoto, Sub-inspectors Ishtiaq Ahmed and Pawan Kumar, ASI Mohammed Akram and Constable Tahir to the police custody till Feb 27, the magistrate ordered the police to produce the accused in handcuffs in the court next time.

SHO Phulpoto, clad in a starched shalwar-kameez, was brought to the court in a private car while the other accused cops in a police mobile van. Over three dozen relatives and area people also gathered outside the court. They raised slogans against the police department when they saw the accused policemen being brought to the court without handcuffs.
