KARACHI, Feb 23: A lawyer died in a courtroom of the Sindh High Court on Monday. City district government deputy law officer Shaikh Javed was waiting for a case to be called in the front row of Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany's court when he collapsed into the arms of a lawyer sitting next to him at about 9:30am.

The proceedings were suspended and the SHC medical officer was summoned. He advised the lawyer's shifting to the National Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases immediately, where he was taken by his colleagues.

Shaikh Javed was pronounced dead due to a heart attack on his arrival at the NICVD. The 52-year-old lawyer was apparently in good heath and had never suffered a heart condition, according to CDGK counsel Manzoor Ahmed.
