THATTA: Strike in Thatta

THATTA, Feb 23: A strike was observed here on Sunday as a mark of protest against the killing of a youth, Mansoor Khushik. Shops and business centres remained closed. Several people attended the funeral. They turned unruly on the main road and damaged windowpanes of vehicles, erected barriers and set ablaze tyres.

Mansoor Khushik, 22, was shot dead by Haji Brohi on Saturday. The killer surrendered himself before the Thatta police and confessed to have killed the boy to avenge his son's murder. Hakim Brohi was killed by Khushik clansmen some two months back.

ARRESTED: An alleged bandit, Shafi Solangi, was arrested on Sunday by the Mirpur Bathoro police. He was allegedly involved in 22 cases of kidnapping for ransom and murder. TPO Mirpur Bathoro Lal Bux Abro said the accused was a members of Ali Khoso and Fauji Panhwar group. He had come to visit graveyard of his ancestors when arrested.
