NFC meeting on Saturday

Published February 19, 2004

PESHAWAR, Feb 18: The next meeting of the National Finance Commission (NFC) has been delayed by one day, official sources said. Instead of Friday, the meeting would take place on Saturday. Similarly, the meeting of the provincial finance ministers, which was earlier scheduled to be held on Thursday, would be held on Friday.

The NFC meeting, the sources said, has been rescheduled owing to Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz's preoccupation with some important foreign delegation on Friday.

It would be the fifth meeting of the NFC following its first meeting at Islamabad on Nov 17, last year, second at Lahore on Dec 13, 2003, third again at Islamabad on Jan 19, and the fourth at Karachi on Feb 5.

The provincial finance ministers in their meeting on Friday would discuss the parameters that would make basis for the distribution of resources among the federating units.
