PESHAWAR, Feb 17: An accountability appellate bench of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday dismissed six appeals of the National Accountability Bureau challenging the acquittal of former MNA Naseemur Rehman and his five relatives by an accountability court.

The bench comprising Justice Tariq Pervez and Justice Qaim Jan Khan observed that keeping in view the evidence on record there was no possibility of the conviction of the former MNA and his relatives.

The NAB had filed the appeals after the accountability court had accepted the applications of the former MNA and his relatives including his father, Anwarur Rehman, brothers, Mujeebur Rehman and Masoodur Rehman, and two nephews Faisal Saleem and Asad Saleem.

They had filed applications under section 265-K of the Criminal Procedure Code which empowers the trial court to acquit a person if there is no possibility of his conviction on the basis of available evidence.

The appellate bench had reserved its judgement few days ago after completion of arguments by both the parties. Advocate Yahya Afridi appeared for Naseemur Rehman and other accused.
