HYDERABAD, Feb 11: The Latifabad Taluka Council at a meeting held here on Tuesday criticized a statement of CBA union leaders against councillors on the issue of promotion and said the union could not challenge the taluka council.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Faseehul Hasnain Shah said the district promotion committee had not observed necessary formalities while giving promotions to employees and that was the reason that the taluka council had constituted a committee to probe into the matter.

He said the council was being blackmailed by the union leaders who had challenged the authority of the statutory body. He demanded that the promotions to grade-1 to 15 employees should be withheld till the committee decision.

Raees Arain, Khaliq Abbasi, Mohammad Naseem Faridi and other members also criticized the role of the CBA union. Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro presided over the meeting.

CBA: Meanwhile, Latifabad Workers Union chairman Mansha Gul and senior vice-chairman Riaz Sardar, in a joint statement termed remarks of some council members a direct interference in affairs of the union. They claimed that the CBA union alone had the right to recommend promotions of employees under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001.
