KARACHI, Feb 8: Test wicket-keeper Moin Khan was named on Sunday to lead Karachi region in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy and the One-day Cup. Abdul Raquib, chairman of the four-member PCB nominated selection committee , announced a 20-member squad after the end of two-day trials at the PCB Regional Academy Ground.
Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is the vice-captain. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif is a notable absentee after declaring his unavailability in writing to the selection committee.
Raquib was assisted by fellow selectors Sadiq Mohammad, Aftab Baloch and Asif Ahmed in picking the squad and the five stand-bys. Karachi will play their opening match against Quetta at the National Stadium from Feb 15.
The following players have been asked to report on Monday at 3.00pm at the National Stadium to team coach Sadiq Mohammad:
Opening batsmen: Shadab Kabir, Agha Sabir, Asif Zakir.
Middle-order batsmen: Hasan Raza, Faisal Iqbal, Asim Kamal, Naumanullah, Saeed bin Nasir and Farhan Adil.
All-rounders: Shahid Afridi (vice-captain), Arif Mahmood.
Spinners: Danish Kaneria (leg-spin), Tahir Khan (off-spin).
Wicket-keepers: Moin Khan (captain), Atiq-uz-Zaman.
Fast bowlers: Mohammad Sami, Tanvir Ahmed, Fahad Khan, Nasir Khan, Adeel Malik.
Stand-byes: Maisam Hasnain, Mohammad Ghazan, Ahmed Zeeshan Malik, Azam Hussain, Shahid Iqbal, Sharif Asadullah and Irfanuddin.
