LAHORE, Feb 8: A young woman committed suicide at Gujjar Colony in Kot Lakhpat on Sunday. Police said Ghulam Rasool married her daughter Sobia, 22, to Nasir Ali two months ago. Her husband and in-laws taunted her for bringing small dowry. The woman estranged from her husband over the issue and began living with her parents.

Elders of the family intervened but she was divorced four days ago. Sobia was upset and she locked herself in a room and took rat-poison. Her condition deteriorated and she was rushed to the Lahore General Hospital where she died. The body was returned to the family without autopsy.

INJURED: Robbers shot at and wounded a motorcyclist on resistance on Bund Road in Gujjarpura.

Police said Mushtaq Ahmad was on his way home when two gunmen intercepted him. They snatched money from him. He put up resistance when the miscreants tried to take away his motorcycle. The gunmen opened fire on him and escaped. The man got critical injuries and was rushed to hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
