DCA slams PCB selectors

Published February 7, 2004

HYDERABAD, Feb 6: Secretary, District Cricket Association (DCA) Hyderabad, Fahim Baig Mughal, on Friday blasted selectors for ignoring deserving candidates from the squad named by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed selection committee in the 15- member squad of Hyderabad Region for Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.

The DCA official maintained that three member selection committee which selected Hyderabad team for participation in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy had ignored right-arm leg spinner Anwaar Ali, batsmen Ayaz Shaikh and Irshad Notkani of Hyderabad district for inclusion in the squad despite their outstanding performances in PCB Senior Inter-districts Tournament.

He said that Anwaar was the highest wicket taker of the above mentioned tournament while Ayaz and Irshad scored consistently throughout the tournament.

The DCA official appealed to the chairman PCB to take notice of the omissions and include the ignored players in Hyderabad squad.
