KARACHI, Feb 6: The Anti Greater Thal Canal and Kalabagh Dam Action Committee, comprising nine political parties, on Friday brought out a rally from Manzoor Colony against construction of the Thal Canal and Kalabagh Dam.

The committee comprises the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party and other local nationalist parties. The rally culminated at Empress Market Saddar where the PPP Sindh president, Nisar Khoro, spoke to the participants.

Participants of the rally were carrying placards and their respective party flags and raising slogans. "We believe in democracy and power of the people and it is our right to mobilise the masses against the projects which may deprive them of their due share of water," said Mr Khoro.

He invited the people to attend the "bigger and actual" rally against the projects to be held on February 1O. Amin Khattak, Rashid Rabbani, Salim Zia were also present on the occasion. -PPI
