HYDERABAD, Jan 29: The Muttahida Labour Federation of Pakistan has expressed concern over the non-payment of salaries and other dues to employees of Azad Friends Company, Karachi.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, MLFP secretary- general Qamoos Gul Khattak said that the government had been ignoring tyranny being perpetrated by the capitalists against the members of the working class.

He said that if the poor workers raised their voice for their legal rights, they were crushed by the government machinery. He said that in order to confront the World Trade Organization regime, capitalists of other countries was trying to develop harmonious relations with workers but those of Pakistan were treating their workers as slaves.

The labour leader warned that the policy could prove extremely harmful for the country. He demanded that the Sindh government and other authorities concerned should take notice of the flagrant violation of labour laws by the industrialists and ensure that the workers were paid their legal dues.

RECRUITMENT: The Pakistan Coast Guards will soon start recruitment for the post of constables from the rural areas of Sindh and the interested candidates should contact its headquarters in Saddar, Karachi, on Feb 9 and 10. This was announced by the Coast Guards here on Wednesday. The candidates should be between 18 to 25 years of age on Feb 21.
