KARACHI, May 17: Power failures were reported in various areas of the city on Friday.

The KESC sources told Dawn that some parts of North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Clifton, New Karachi, Defence and Gizri had been without electricity for some time on Friday.

Calling from North Nazimabad, Block N, Ms Hassan said her locality had been without electricity the previous night. “Having to sleep without fans is an ordeal these days. Our power supply was resumed in the early hours of Friday only to desert us after a little while. The power supply was finally restored in the evening.”

Kashif Saeed, a resident of North Karachi, sector 11-A, said his locality had faced the first power shutdown on Thursday at 8pm. “It does not get dark until 8pm these days. So we quickly went to get some candles. Little did we know that the power shutdown would last almost the whole night and we would run out of our supply of candles.”

A resident of Federal B Area, Block 18, told Dawn her area had been without electricity twice.
