Published January 27, 2004

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 26: An acute shortage of flour is feared as wheat stocks in Mirpurkhas and Sanghar districts have been utilized, sources told this correspondent on Monday.

They said there was no wheat in Mirpurkhas, Digri, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Samaro, Umerkot, Kunri, Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, and Sanghar godowns. They said the food department would not be able to provide wheat quota to the chakkis.

A delegation of the Chakki Owners Association, led by Rasheed Talli, left for Karachi to meet the secretary food to apprise the government of impending flour shortage.

TREE PLANTATION: As many as 884,000 saplings will be planted during the spring tree plantation campaign in the district, starting from Feb 12 to 18.
