ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: India should forthwith announce end to violence as well as halt to fencing on the Line of Control in Kashmir. This was stated by Azad Kashmir President Sardar Mohammad Anwar Khan, while talking to a number of delegations which called on him at Kashmir House on Sunday.

The Azad Kashmir president said he was keenly looking for some positive move from the Indian side after the Saarc summit, but it looked as if India was hell bent upon spoiling the conducive atmosphere created after the conference.

However, the prevailing situation called for maximum restraint and patience from the people of Kashmir, particularly those living in Azad Kashmir, he added. He said a careless and unplanned move would adversely affect the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri martyrs.

Mr Khan called for unity among Kashmiris and said: "With unity achieved no one could dare take away the just rights of the people of Kashmir and Pakistan.
