KARACHI, Jan 23: The possibilities and proposals for investment on Pakistan railway lands in the province came under consideration at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh chief secretary Dr Mutawakkal Kazi here on Friday.

In the meeting, the chairman of the Railway Board, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, referred to certain investment offers and urged the authorities in the Sindh government to take benefit of the same in view of their being advantageous for the country.

Dr Mutawakkal Kazi pointed out that the Sindh government was carrying out its development activities within the legal framework and in the best interest of the province and country.

He referred to Thar coal project and said that it was part of the same strategy and a best target for investment promotion. He asked the secretary of industries, Raja Mohammed Abbas, and Member (Land Utilization) Board of Revenue, to prepare a working paper with regard to investment on PR lands so that the same could be implemented after getting an approval from high level forums.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the additional chief secretary local government, Mohammed Saleem Khan, senior member BOR Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, secretary of finance, Malik Israr Hussain, secretary of Railway Board, Liaquat Ali, law secretary Ghulam Nabi Shah, DS Railways Karachi, Israr Alvi, EDO Works Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi and other officials.-APP
