KARACHI, Jan 21: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jaffery, on Wednesday issued notices to police officials and others for Jan 28 on a petition filed by Raza Khan against his brother's detention.

The petitioner submitted that his brother Gul Farooq was arrested by the police officials of Sachal PS on Jan 9. He stated that neither his brother was produced in any court, nor any charge was framed against him, alleging that the respondent kept him in illegal confinement.

He prayed the court to the direct respondent to produce the detenue before court and order registration of case against them. Meanwhile, a division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice S.Ali Aslam Jaffery, on Wednesday issued notice to Excise and Taxation officials, Sindh for Jan 28 while hearing a constitutional petition filed by Associate Wine Merchants.

The petitioner challenged a notice issued to them by the department requiring of them to close their wine shop. The petitioner maintained that they shifted their shop from one place to another in the same vicinity and same road i.e. Karam Ali Talpur Road.

It was maintained that necessary intimation was given to the department. Some of the residents lodged a complaint with MNA elected from the constituency who moved the excise department which issued the impugned notice illegally, the petitioner maintained praying the court to declare the notification illegal.-PPI/APP
