RAHIM YAR KHAN, Jan 19: Three armed dacoits took away Rs21,000 in cash, cell phones and calling cards worth Rs140,000 from a mobile shop from near the Tehsil Nazim office here on Monday.

Masquerading themselves as buyer, two dacoits entered the shop of Amer Nawaz and asked him to show them some mobile sets. While their third accomplice stood guard outside the shop on a motorcycle without number plate. Suddenly, the dacoits inside the shop whipped out their pistols and held the owner hostage. One of the dacoits took him to the store room at the rear side of the shop.

In the meantime, their third accomplice also entered the shop and together they scooped Rs21,000 in cash, calling cards worth Rs42,000 and mobile sets valuing Rs100,000. Amer tried to resist, but the bandits hit him with the butts of their pistols before fleeing with the booty. However, the bag containing mobile sets fell down which the dacoits could not take away. A case was yet to be registered.

WALK: A walk to create awareness about the polio among the masses was organized by the Health Department here on Monday. The walk, led by Tehsil Nazim Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain, started from the Town Hall and terminated at the Railway Station. EDO (Health) Dr Sadiq Hussain Naqvi, EDO (Education) Rana Hazoor Bukhsh, Social Welfare DO Ghulam Mujtaba Khan, DHO Dr Hassan Khan, heads of different government departments, workers and students also took part in the walk.
