KHAIRPUR, Jan 19: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister on home affairs, Aftab Shaikh, has said that all tribal chief of Sindh are involved in the practice of Karo-kari.
Talking to newsmen on Sunday, he said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had not taken up the Shaista Almani case as a political issue but the party wanted to stop excesses against women.
He said the chief minister's brother, Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar, also included in tribal chiefs who decided separation between Balakh Sher and Shaista Almani.
Mr Shaikh said measures were under way to stop increasing terrorism in Karachi. He said the government had fixed a reward of Rs1 million to arrest the accused involved in the bomb blasts in Karachi.
He said he had given strict instructions to the Khairpur police to control the law and order situation. The adviser said the MQM had raised Sindh's problems at all levels and the party had clear stand regarding the Thal canal and Kalabagh dam that they should not be constructed.
He said the investigation police had failed and there were complaints that they were involved in corruption. That was why a request had been made to Gen Musharraf to remove the investigation police department..
ROBBERY: Four armed men entered the hostel of the government elementary college for women on the busy station road on Saturday night and robbed articles worth Rs200,000 from the women inmates.
The accused held hostage the watchman, Ali Khan Katohar, and collected gold ornaments, clothes, cash and other valuables from 20 rooms of the hostel. The girl students were present in the hostel at the time of incident.
The people have shown a great anger over the incident as the B-section police station was situated at the short distance from the college. A case was registered on the complaint of the college principal.
