Published January 16, 2004

HYDERABAD, Jan 15: The Jamshoro and Gulshan-i-Hali police picked up two applicants on Wednesday as they came out of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench.

Those arrested were identified as Gul Mohammad Brohi, a councillor of Moro Jabal, and Taju Makrani. Mr Makrani was allegedly involved in a police encounter and a narcotics case, registered at the Gulshan-i-Hali police station.

The pre-arrest bail of Mr Makrani was filed by Zahoor A. Baloch in two cases, lodged vide FIRs 85 and 88 of 2003. Mr Baloch confirmed that since the bail application was not fixed for hearing, his client had to leave the court and was arrested. Mr Brohi had himself filed a constitutional petition against the TPO of Kotri and other police officials, claiming police harassment.
