PESHAWAR, Jan 15: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has assured the Hindu community to reopen the inquiry into the missing of Jagdais, a third year student of Edwards College.
He was speaking to a delegation of Hindus from Swat district which called on him led by MPA Gore Saron Laal. The parents of the student, who went missing on May 23, 2003, were also with the team.
The IGP and additional secretary to the governor were present on this occasion. The governor said the disappearance of the student was really astonishing.
He told the parents: "We sitting in the public offices fully realize your plight and grievances, and would spare no effort to recover your son". Mr Bajan Laal, father of the student, said Jagdais after attending the college on the said day had gone to the temple situated at Jhanda Bazaar, Peshawar city, and gone missing from there.
MNA: MNA Sabir Hussain Awan called on NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah here at the Governor's House. Town-IV Nazim Haji Niaz Mohammad, MPAs Javed Mohmand advocate and Kashif Azam were also with the MNA.
They remained with the governor for some time and discussed various matters pertaining to the well-being of the people of their respective areas. The MNA especially mentioned the difficulties and problems with regard to the irrigation sector falling in the purview of the canals originating from Fata, particularly the Saparay Dam.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said technical studies for the construction of full-fledged dams were already in progress and on their completion practical work on the project was expected to be launched shortly.
