Wapda retain team title

LAHORE, Jan 14: Wapda retained the team title defeating New Khan 3-1 in the 37th National badminton championship at Iqbal Park Sports Complex on Wednesday.

National champion, Wajid Ali brushed aside Ahsan Qamarto give Wapda 1-0 lead. Wajid won 15-8, 15-3.

Wajidwith Aamir Islam doubled Wapda's lead after makinga recovery against Rizwan Rana and Imran Mohib. The Wapda pair lost the first set 12-15 but bounced back soon afterwards towin the next two games 15-10, 15-12.

The experienced Waqas Ahmad lived up to expectations when he toppled Zafar Tasnim 15- 13, 11-15, 15-7 to make the score 2-1.

Zafarwith Tahir Ishaq beat Waqas-Nauman Sikandar inthe seconddoubles afterlosing the first 12-15, 15-5,15-9to complete the win. Besides, several other matches of men and ladies singles were also decided.
