ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman Kamran Lashari on Wednesday suspended a director and deputy director of the environment wing for negligence.

Talking to Dawn, the CDA chairman said he had inspected the Constitution Avenue early in the morning and found over 50 per cent environment staff absent. He said a total of 100 employees of the environment wing had been deputed for the maintenance of the green area along the road, but only 47 were present during the surprise checking.

Mr Lashari said he had already directed the heads of all directorates to prepare lists of their subordinates and their place of work so that they could be checked during surprise inspections.

He said in case the employees were found absent from their duty places, the responsibility would devolve on the heads of the directorates concerned. The CDA chief said he visited Suharwardy Road to check the sanitation staff and found 95 per cent performing their duties.
