FAISALABAD, Jan 13: Five accused involved in a number of heinous crimes escaped from the lock-up of Sargodha Road police station on Monday night.According to details , Investigation Staff in-charge Inspector Malik Muhammad Javed rounded up Abdul Khaliq from Chak Jhumra and Noor Ahmed from Chak 104 RB of Khurrianwala. The two were wanted by police in a number of cases of dacoity, robbery, theft and other heinous crimes.

The investigation officer locked the accused in the lock-up of Sargodha Road police station. Investigation wing's Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ikram arrested Ihsanul Haq, Asif Husain and Muhammad Asif from Chak 202 RB for their involvement in a dozen cases of heinous crimes. The SI also kept them in the same lock-up.

The accused overpowered Constable Ghulam Abbas when he opened the door of the lock-up to provide them meals. The accused thrashed the constable and escaped.

Senior police officers reached the spot and ordered arrest of Sargodha Road SHO Sarwar Khan, duty clerk Azam Bhatti, junior clerk Iqbal Cheema and Constable Ghulam Abbas after registration of case against them on charge of negligence of duty.

Iqbal Cheema managed to escape from the scene while the other three policemen were arrested. Sources said that some policemen had helped the accused to escape probably after getting bribe.

SUICIDE: The wife of a labourer allegedly committed suicide in Chak 138 GB on Tuesday. Reports said Shaista Begum sprinkled kerosene oil on her body and set her on fire because of some domestic issues. She succumbed to her burn wounds at the Allied Hospital.
