Eight die in BD accident

dhaka, Jan 12: At least eight people were killed and 15 injured on Monday when a train rammed a truck and sent it hurtling into a ditch at a foggy rail crossing near Dhaka, an official said.

"Eight people travelling on the truck were killed instantly and several others were injured when the truck was hit by a train at a level crossing amid thick fog in Tongi area," said a spokesman for the Bangladesh Railways. He said the gateman at the crossing had been suspended pending an investigation into the accident.-AFP
