PESHAWAR, Jan 7: Prof Khalid A. Mufti has been appointed as the principal of Khyber Medical College after the post fell vacant on the completion of the term by the out-going principal, Prof Zia-ul-Islam.

According to a a press release issued here on Tuesday, Prof Khalid A. Mufti was appointed as the KMC principal with effect from Jan 4 through a notification of the provincial government.

Prof Mufti, ex-president of the Pakistan Psychiatry Society,founded the psychiatry department at the Lady Reading Hospital and Khyber Teaching Hospital. He had also founded Green December Moment, Horizon and Mental Health Resource Centre, Pakistan. Besides, he worked in the field of drug addiction and mental health problems in Afghan Refugees.
