Wapda thrash BD 'A'

KARACHI, Jan 1: Wapda had to face some dogged resistance from Bangladesh 'A' tailenders before securing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in the Patron's Trophy Pool 'A' fixture at UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

Bangladesh 'A', who needed 153 to make Wapda bat again after being reduced to 183 for six on Wednesday evening, batted resolutely to reach 337 all out in the second innings.

Tailender Manjural Islam Rana struck a career-best 84 off 90 ball with the aid of 12 boundaries while Jamaluddin Babu scored exactly 50 that included six fours. The victory consolidated Wapda's position at the top of Pool 'A' standings with 27 points.
