KARACHI, May 16: Pakistan People’s Party has invited applications from prospective candidates of the National and provincial assemblies for the scheduled Oct 2002 elections.

PPP Acting Secretary General, Mian Raza Rabbani, in a statement, said that following the announcement of new delimitations with changes in the demarcation of constituency by the Election Commission, the applicants who had applied prior to the announcement of delimitations are required to inform the party about their choice of constituency.

He said that those who had not applied earlier but are now interested in contesting the polls may apply by June 4, 2002, accompanied by a cheque of Rs25,000 and Rs15,000 for the National and provincial assembly seats, respectively.

However, Mr Rabbani said, weightage would be given in the grant of ticket to those who applied earlier.

The PPP leader said that final call for applications would be made after announcement of the election schedule.
