FATA names squad

PESHAWAR, Aug 30: A 14-member FATA squad led by right- arm pacer Muhammad Riaz Afridi was announced Friday for the first match of the three-day Under-19 Grade-I cricket championship kicking off from Sept 1.

FATA will play its first match against KCCA (B) Sunday at KRL Stadium Rawalpindi.

Janis Khan was named as coach while Tahir Afridi, coordinator of Cricket in FATA, will be the manager of the team.

FATA, a team stunned the cricketing circles after lifting the Grade-II title last year had given promotion to the Grade-I title for their winning performance.

The team has three fast bowlers, two off-spinners, one leg- spinner, three all-rounders and five regular batsmen.

Squad: Muhammad Riaz Afridi (Captain), Muhammad Sohail (Wicket-keeper), Mumtaz Khan, Hussain Akbar, Samar Gul, Hilal Afridi, Syed Yasir Shah, Sajid Afridi, Riaz Kail, Johar Hussain, Altaf Ali, Seemab Hussain, Majeed Khan, Naveed Ahmed Afridi.—APP
