NEW DELHI, Feb 24: Occupied Kashmir again reverberated with anti-India slogans on Tuesday as Kashmiris mounted demonstrations against the killing of two youths in Sopore and another in Srinagar.

The All-Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for a strike on Wednesday in protest against the killings.

Sources said a protest was held in Srinagar against the death at the hands of Indian security personnel of 35-year-old Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, a relative of JKLF chairman Yasin Malik.

His body was found by police in Shariefabad in the Parimpora area of Srinagar.

Protesters in Baramulla also took out processions against the gruesome death of Shabir Sheikh.

All shops and schools remained closed in the two cities. Vehicles too stayed off the road.

Media reports quoting official sources in the area said the protesters were raising slogans for freedom. Though a case had been registered against the military, they demanded the withdrawal of Indian troops from the disputed territory.

Dozens of Kashmiris were injured, including a journalist, when security forces fired in the air and resorted to baton-charge to disperse the crowds.—APP
